Hey, everyone! I'm sure you remember that some time ago I made a journal entry regarding the latest DBZ movie "Battle of Gods". Well, even though the movie should be officially released on the 30th of March it already had it's first screening in Japan. Now, I haven't seen it online yet but it's plot has already been posted on some websites.
Since I don't want to give spoilers, I won't tell you too much about the movie or how it ends. I will, however, tell you this - the movie is a very serious sequel hook. When this movie was originally announced, most people thought it will be the final DBZ movie. That doesn't seem to be true at all, since this movie literally expands the DBZ universe. Also (and this is something that really surprised me) the movie is CANON. It's not like most of the other DBZ movies which are made just for fun or to show some alternate scenarios and whatnot. "Dragon ball Z - Battle of Gods" is canon to the "Dragonball" manga.
Despite this, however, it does seem to have some inconsistencies, but I'll have to wait until I actually see the movie to confirm them. I also heard a rumour that this is the most expensive anime movie ever made. So....yeah....expanding a universe.....most expensive anime movie...... state of the art animation ....... this is a very, very big thing. Much bigger than what I originally expected it to be.
Anyway, regardless of the possible inconsistencies, there is no doubt in my mind that I will enjoy this movie, because of one simple reason - the villain. The Egyptian Rabbi..... I mean Bills, the God of Destruction, is a very entertaining villain (he's confirmed to be a cat, not a rabbit). He isn't like most of the movie villains, who usually lack an actual personality and are just there to kill and destroy for no reason other than just because they're evil. Bills has an interesting personality. He isn't evil at all, destruction is just his job. He loves to eat, loves challenges in a fight but is a horribly sore loser. He isn't as serious as Frieza and Cell, but he isn't over-the-top comical as Buu. So, he's somewhere inbetween when it comes to comedy. However, it's been stated by multiple sources that he's without a doubt the most powerful DBZ villain up to date. It's rumored he's even stronger than Super Vegetto. O_O
However, I am going to post one small spoiler, though it's nothing that serious - Bills's companion, Whis, is actually Bills's martial arts master and is even stronger than Bills. So, yeah, it seems to be official - Whis is currently the most powerful being in DBZ. He also has some interesting traits - he loves food, he can be absent-minded, and he's a terrible singer.
Also, have you ever wondered why King Kai's planet was so small? Well, the mystery has finally been revealed. King Kai's planet used to be much bigger than what we saw in DBZ. But, one day Bills decided to visit King Kai and they played a car racing video game. King Kai won, and Bills was so pissed off he blew up King Kai's planet. Then King Kai used one of the smaller chunks left and build his new smaller planet. I am dead serious. This is the explanation the author, Akira Toriyama, gave in an interview and it's supposed to be canon. Bills blew up King Kai's planet because of a video game!
In order to defeat Bills, Goku will have to achieve a new power up - Super Saiyan God (hence the title of the movie). Some people are dissapointed by the way the power up looks. I'm not going to lie, I also expected more, but I can't say I'm complaining. It's an interesting change from the trend.

Based on the results of my most recent poll, it seems there IS enough people interested for an "Oblivion" related contest. So, I decided not to wait any longer before starting it.
As you know, I've done some small art-related contests in the past where you have to guess a certain thing about a picture I drew and you win a prize. But, this is my first "classic" contest, where the contestants submit their artwork.
I'm sure you can remember that some time ago I also made a poll asking what kind of contest I should do if I decided to do one. "Hellsing" won, but "Oblivion" came in second. Despite the results I picked "Oblivion" simply because, well, you have "Hellsing" related contests all the time on DA in various clubs and groups. I wanted something that was unique to my gallery.
So let's not waste anymore time.
THE RULES
THE ENTRIES:
- draw/write a piece of fanart/fanfiction related to the members of the Oblivion organisation,
- this is not a contest about the classic versions of the anime-only "Hellsing" characters. They must be in their "Oblivion" style versions,
- the Oblivion members have to be the main focus of the deviation,
- characters from the "Hellsing" manga are allowed to be in the deviation, and can even share the main focus with the Oblivion members (Alucard fighting against Incognito, Major and Helena playing strategy games, Laura chasing after Yumie etc...) but not steal the main focus from them,
- your OCs are also allowed in the deviation and, again, they can share the main focus but not steal it from the Oblivion members,
- crossovers with other anime/cartoons/movies/etc. are NOT allowed (sorry, there have to be some limits),
- you can put the characters into any type of situation you want - funny, action-packed, emotional, cute, dramatic etc.
- it has to be within DA's set of rules about deviations,
- in case the first rule is a little confusing, a single contestant doesn't need to BOTH draw a fanart and write a fanfic in order to participate. It's EITHER draw a fanart or write a fanfic.
- comics are obviously also allowed,
- only one entry per contestant,
- you submit your entry by sending me a note with a link to it,
- you do NOT have to be one of my watchers in order to participate,
- the entry has to be a deviation specifically done for the contest, meaning if you've done "Oblivion" fanart/fanfics in the past, they're not allowed to be submitted. Examples include:

THE JUDGING:
- I will personally judge the entries,
- they will be judged based on the quality of the art/writing and the appeal/creativity/originality of the content.
THE PRIZES:
3rd Place - 1 free deviation from me - the deviation can be either a fully drawn, colored, shaded pic with a detailed background OR a one-page comic (pretty much the type of deviation I normally offer for a 3 month premium),
2nd Place - 2 free deviations from me - each of them can be either a fully drawn, colored, shaded pic with a detailed background OR a one-page comic,
1st Place - 3 free deviations from me - each of them can be either a fully drawn, colored, shaded pic with a detailed background OR a one-page comic PLUS you will be mentioned/congratulated on your victory in the actual "Oblivion" comic (Bonus page of course).
THE DEADLINE:
- the contest starts now and the last day you can submit your entry is March 31st (of 2013. duh) meaning the contest lasts for roughly 2 months.
Why is March 31st the last day? Easy. Because if someone tries to submit their entry the next day I can tell them this:
Contestant: Hey, is it too late to post my entry now?
Me: Of course not, go right ahead.
Contestant: Really?
Me: APRIL FOOLS!
Contestant: o.0..........
Okay, joking aside, I figured 2 months (even though one of those months is February) would be enough time for everyone to submit their entries.
